An old proverb says: “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”. In the light of the above idea, AlGaz Foundation wanted to empower Congolese Youth living in Kinshasa, DRC by giving them tools that will allow them to be self-sufficient and raise themselves out of poverty. AlGaz Foundation shares a common vision with the President of DRC, H.E. Félix Antoine Tshisekedi, about equal opportunities and empowerment of women along with the men of the society. During a ceremony held at the office of AlGaz Foundation in DRC, on June 14, 2021, the first batch of motorcycle and sewing machines was handed over to a group of young men and women, with a view of empowering them to fight against unemployment. Before receiving motorbikes, the young men had motorbike training from the Foundation, during a 3 weeks special course. This was aimed to prepare them for the Road. Additionally, the women were also provided with training for cutting and sewing, to make them independent for contributing to the vision of the Head of State, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi, to promote youth employment. Clothes produced by these women will be purchased by the foundation and distributed to deserving people across DRC. Al Gaz Foundation also intends to distribute 100 more motorcycles by the end of the year and carry out other projects relating to the introduction of computers for Congolese youth to help them adapt to technological change.
